May 7th, 2011

..Less than two months left before I leave the states, and honestly I'm not as excited to go home as I was a month ago. Don't get me wrong - of course I want to see my family and friends, but I feel like I'm not done with the U.S. yet. I'm done with Angola, Indiana - but there's so much else to see out there.. yes, I'm perfectly aware of the easy solving here, and yes, of course I will go back as much as I can. Despite wanting to come back so badly I seriously miss Denmark.. Alot. I've always been the girl who could go wherever, for days, and not miss my family. I told myself: It's only 11 months, not even a year.. I won't miss them that much.. Heck, I could probably do 2 years if that's what my scholarship allowed. Bullshit. Being away from your family and friends.. Your home.. for a year, even though you've started to get tired of your life there, you WILL miss it. There will always be that place in your heart. The place where you grew up when you were a child. The people you grew up with. The environment you were around as a child. Some memories are just not forgettable. Someone out there is trying to forget about that one memory, when they were a child, but are you? Make the best of it, so it's worth missing. Jenny Nguyen, xoxo..

(On a side-note.. It is mother's day tomorrow, so remember to do something for your mother. Material stuff is not the only thing you can do for her (..though somehow I always end up doing that.. lol) - just spending time with her is probably all she wants, and I know that for a fact. Love to all the mothers out there. A shout out to my my hostmom A.D. for being the best hostmom of all.)

Prom-shoes, Check! I'm ready!

XOXO.

Home sweet home.

I just came home from a week in DC and Maryland. Or.. 5 hours ago, anyways, I have good news. I've found a prom dress, so I have one less thing to worry about. Though it wasn't my dream dress I am still much satisfied. Lovable, actually. Also bought 2 pair of shorts from Hollister (slowly getting ready for spring and summer, hehe). Pictures from my vacation will be on facebook soon ;)

Prom-shoe-hunt-mode is activated. If I had the money I'd buy a pair of Christian Loubutin pumps, as seen on Lauren Conrad, but this is reality - haha.
XOXO (PS. so not gonna buy shoes like the ones on the model..)

New stuff.

Have I told you that Levi's Jeans are crazycheap over here? Well I got these leggings for 32 dollars. They look a lil darker than the picture though.. Also purchased a black top yesterday. The brown top was bought 3 weeks ago.

Prom!

April 16th. Yes, baby. That's when prom is going to be.
I am so excited I can't even express it. Mostly.. Excited to wear my dress and show it off! Teehee. My promdate and I decided to go for casual instead of the very colorful dresses that they usually wear at prom here. It's just not my style at all.. I like to keep it down low ;)
So here's the dress. I want it in navy, but I couldn't find a picture of it from the back in that color - so.. yeah :) I've been searching for a dress for a while and been to almost 10 different stores to try on dresses, but I think this is the one.

An update for my plans from now till dk:
Washington D.C and Maryland - March.
Chicago (visiting cousin and aunt) and Massachusetts (visiting colleges) - April
Prom and Lexy's academic bowl - April
Lexy's academic bowl in Indianapolis if she goes to state - May
Graduation - June.

Music.

..the result from not having high speed internet and stuff was that I couldn't download music and listen to music as often as I did. I had a friend put on a lot of music on my memory card so I could have something new to listen to, and boy I feel in love with so many songs! They deserve to be out there (though they already are, but they can always use more fans)

Kid Cudi.
Chris Webby
Lil Wayne
Wiz Khalifa
J. Cole
Mike Posner.
+ more!

But much credit to Kid Cudi! I FRICKIN LOVE HIM!

Songs recommended:
No hands.
The Prayer.
Follow me.
Erase me.
I'm coming home.
Gonorrhea.
What's wrong with them.
I am a human being.
Black and yellow.
Please don't go.
Bow chicka wow wow.
Last Chance.
Starry eyed.
Hold up.

Books books books!

While I've been here I've read a couple really good books that I would like to recommend to those who read.

Of mice and men - for those who chooses not to read a book because of the size. This is a 100-page book that just captured me within the first few pages. A really sad story about two guys - one of them.. mentally challenged.
Harry Potter - I'm now at the 5th one and I can't believe that I didn't start reading them earlier. Awesomely good!
Malcolm X - In the progress of reading it :P As far as I've read, it's pretty good.

All you get for today. I'm a lazy.. lazy.. lazy girl :(

February 12th. 2011

Yesterday I went to the movies with Hannah L. to watch Just Go With It, and I highly recommend you guys to go watch it, it is frickin hilarious! Loved it. Before that, we'd gone shopping in fort wayne and I decided to buy some birthday presents for myself as my family got me money for my bday. I got a trenchcoat, two basic tees and a knitted shirtish thing, which I will upload pictures of later. Then I went to Hannah's house to stay the night, and when I went downstairs to her bedroom I saw "Happy birthday!" On the guestbed. It was so sweet! Then we had our crazy time and talked until 3 o'clock in the morning. When I woke up she wished me a happy birthday and gave me really awesome presents. Hannah if you read this, thank u so much again! (A purse from H&M, Baking stuff and nusspli from Germany.. Drooling!)

Then we watched Pirates of the Caribbean, and at 3pm my hostparents and sis came to pick me up. They had kept our plans for the day a secret and I was excited all day. For a good reason! They took me to one of my favorite restaurants. "Takaoka". It's like watching a cool cooking show live. So awesome. (some pics of the food and the chef. He was mexican and he thought I looked mixed. NICE :D!!! and also because it was my birthday, the servants sang a birthdaysong and gave me sorbet. yummy!)

And afterwards we went to go bowling.. I sucked as usual, but it was really fun!

.. Then we got home at about midnight and my hostfamily gave me a birthday present. A digital picture frame with the wi-fi stuff, so when I go back to Denmark, they can send me pictures directly to my frame so I can see them. Is that just awesome or not? Thanks you guys. I love you!

Working out

I figured it was time for me to set some goals to keep me going while I'm here. I've been soompi'ing alot lately and fell over a topic about jump-roping yesterday and I decided to make some goals for myself. (not only workout-goals)

1. Start of by doing 1000 jumps a day and slowly add more jumps - hit 5000 jumps.
(am now on 2000 a day. will update you at every thousand.)
2. Fill out a sheet of A4 paper with jump-counts. One line counts for 100 jumps - so basically fill out the sheet with lines for every 100 jumps I do. Time limit: 2 months.
(am now at 3200 jumps)
3. When people comment me, I will say thank you instead of "myeah... I guess it's not too bad" or something like that.
4. I will be the nicer me, as much as I can ;)

That's it for now. I have other goals, such as volunteering-work and stuff like that, but it's too cold outside for me, so I'll add that on in spring or something.
Wish me luck!
XOXO

Superbowl

I've spent almost all day watching superbowl and even though the team I cheered for lost, I had lotsa fun. Really going to miss watching football, hopefully I will be able to watch it when I come back to Denmark. Calories was not to be count today and I will continue dieting. An update from last diet-post - I've lost 3 pounds (1,5kg) and am now down at 99 pounds, and that by using www.livestrong.com. I've used my Iphone for a long time to count calories, but as I don't have access to my phone while at school, I found this website to type in my calories. It is really good, and it is free too! I've been using websites like madlog.dk and so on, but those cost money after a while (so not going to pay money for that!.. waste!)
I really like to bake, and that makes it only harder to go on diet, but I have a little trick - and it might not be useful to some people. But I bake as much as I want, and then I either make people eat it for me or I give it to people as a gift. You will make other people happier and yourself too. I'm gonna continue soompi'ing now, so cu next time!

XOXO.

Chris Brown & Chipmunk, baby!

I've been so very sad that I don't have my homey wi-fi here, and that means I lack new music. Anyways! I heard about this song from my friend and I just love it. It's enough to satisfy my music-craving for now. I listen to music on the television instead of my usual ways, and then I just write down the titles so I will remember them when I come home.

..other good songs I've heard, Nelly & Kelly - Gone, The Band Perry - If I die young, Keri Hilson - Pretty Girl Rock. (weird lyrics! but nice beat)

Homecoming week

Anything special happened since last time?.. A girl from Hamilton High School got in a car wreck and is in a really bad condition. Really bad.. I pray for you and hope you will get well soon Brittaney! And from that comes homecoming week. Brittaney was going to be on the homecoming court but sadly she can't because she's hurt. Homecoming week is where the school dresses up to a certain theme everyday.
Dresscodes for this homecoming week:
Monday: Stoplight (If you are single - you wear green. If you are taken - you wear red. If you're in the "middle", you wear yellow.)
Tuesday: Neon colors.
Wednesday: Pajamas.
Thursday: Hallway theme. (As I'm a senior, I will be wearing African Safari clothes)
Friday: Wacky blue and white. (the school's colors)

Then on Saturday, there will be the homecoming game (basketball) and the homecoming court-people will walk and show off there dress and stuff. Then there will be a voting about who's going to be the homecoming queen and the homecoming princess. Simple as that.
That's it for now.
XOXO

It is time to change

I am sick and tired of doing the same thing over and over again everyday. That includes my hair! Haven't had it cut for several months and I've gotten so lazy that I just put it in a ponytail every morning - why? because I work out after school, and it would just be easier for me if I had it in a ponytail so I'd be ready right after school to work out, rite? Nuh-uh! Lousy excuse. The heck.. I just started working out this week! So today I was at the salon with my family and I was checking out hair-colors and I thought, hey, why don't I just try to dye my hair just to try it - if I don't like it, I can always dye it black again right? So I got home and looked for pictures on google, and that's when i thought - I freakin' love Elena's hair color (Vampire Diaries - Nina Dobrev) so I should totally dye it that color. I then talked to my dad on the phone and asked for permission and luckily he said yes! I am so very excited, although I decided to do it in February after Tet as I am thinking about going to Chicago to visit my aunt and celebrate new years with her and her family. (I REALLY don't want to miss out on celebrating tet!) and I would like to keep my money to shop in Chicago, so yeah.. I started working out cuz I've felt pretty bad about my body lately, and I needed to change that. I am now at 102 pounds. Will update ya with improvements :) I am now on a diet until I am down to my normal weight again and after that I will continue to work out. My bestfriend started working out in a Fitness Center and I want to exercise with her when I get home - Of course I don't want to be a weakling compared to her when I get home :P All those things people think will happen to me after I've been in the U.S. for a year - FORGET IT! I am not going to get fat here! Period!

Also I've chosen to apply to IB AND pre-IB as it isn't certain that there will be an IB-class 2011 after I talked to my sister. She is 22 and just started her education - so I am not afraid that I'll be behind everyone. I will move at my own pace, which means that if I do not like the IB-class, then I will find something else to study. In that case it'll probably be HHX, financing. But who knows, maybe after a year I might change my mind to something way different. It's all about inspiration and learning, and that's what I'm here for - to move forward. To see.

Urg.. I better go to bed, it's way over my bed time!
Here's my latest artwork, I still haven't uploaded my 3d letters. (will do ASAP)
XOXO

Photography

Two days to go, and the 2nd semester will officially begin for the students at Hamilton High School, yup yup. So I thought I should finally upload my photography assignments, or I else I'll never get the time to do it. To make it easier for myself, and for your pleasure too, I will only upload my Grade A pictures (sadly I did not get an A+)
I won't be having a photography-class next semester, as I chose to take another art class, which means MORE ART for me, Yay! Oh yeah, I totally forgot about my art projects. I will take a picture of my work when I get back to school and post it on my blog - my art projects, I mean. Let us save the talking till I'm done uploading, alright..
Here goes..

(7th Assignment - Unusual pictures)

(5th Assignment - Texture Pictures)

(4th Assignment - Water Pictures)

(3rd Assignment - Reflection Pictures)

If I remember right, I haven't posted anything about my recent Chicago trip. I figured I might as well do it while I'm uploading pictures. I woke up just after early to get ready and pack the rest of my stuff - then we headed out to the train station (2 h. drive) because it is ridiculous to drive around in the Chi-town. We got onto the train and arrived at what I call Dinner-time and got ready to go to the Signature Room. If you have not been there (!!if you can not afford to eat there, you should at least go there and get a drink, just to see the view - it is amazing) you should definitely put it on your to-do-list. Such an experience. The food was amazing, and I was lucky to be a "special guest from Denmark" - They brought me a decorated glass with fruit and sorbet and a danish flag. Way to make a girl feel special waiter! wink wink..

We spent the last three days with:
The Blue Man Show (What an experience! Loved it!)
A show for those who loves music and comedy. You will laugh your butt off!
The Willis/Sears Tower.
The highest tower in Chicago where you can stand in a glass box in the air and feel like you are really standing in the air watching the city.
Ed Debevic's
A very casual restaurant. If you are a grumpy person with no humor, I recommend you to stay away from here! Seriously.. If not - You should go there to experience a meal where the waiters and waitresses joke around with everyone!
Gino's East
If you love pizza, you will probably think this is heaven. With their special deep dish-pizzas this place has made my top 10 restaurants while I've been here, and I sure have been to many!

Magnificent Mile
Are you used to walk back and forth on *stroeget Aarhus* and loves to shop? are you craving for more? Magnificent mile will satisfy your craving, baby.
Cheesecake Factory
Do I really need to explain this one?..

I am probably missing some other places, but I will go to Chicago again before summer, so it'll be on the next Chicago-post. Until then, ask yo momma or someone to take u there! You will looooove it.
(My pictures are zoom-able btw. Click on them and you can see it in a bigger size. The Christmas Ball-pic especially needs to be zoomed, or else you can't see what I did to the picture)

Forever21 - fab n cheap finds!

The skirt is $6.99! The Shirt is only $9.80!
The striped shirt is $12.50 and the stand for $8.80.
(Cuter stands in the store, not to be found on the website tho..)
